The international organic community came together at Biofach, Numerberg Germany in February 2024 for the world’s largest organic trade show.
The four day event attracted approximately 35,000 trade visitors between the 13-16th of February, coming from all corners of the world with over 120 different countries represented.
The trade show included more than 2,550 exhibitors from 94 countries and the exhibition halls were filled with some of the world’s best organic offerings ranging from organic dairy through to chocolate, snacks and cosmetics. With organic food sales exceeding $60 billion USD1, it’s no surprise that there was a strong turnout of both exhibitors and visitors.
For the first time in over 10 years, our NZMP™ organic team was part of this leading event.
We showcased our range of organic dairy ingredients in the New Zealand Pavilion alongside some of New Zealand’s leading organic suppliers from other industries such as honey, meat and cosmetics.
It was a busy four days with a steady stream of visitors throughout the stand. Our NZMP™ organic mature cheddar was in hot demand for sampling and received a lot of great feedback. Exhibiting alongside other New Zealand suppliers meant it was the perfect opportunity to pair our NZMP organic mature cheddar with TranzAlpine’s organic honey to create a delicious combination for our visitors to sample.
Our 365 days grass-fed and pasture-based dairy ingredients generated considerable interest with these claims drawing customers into the stand who were looking to source grass-fed organic ingredients for skim milk powder and butter through to retail cheese as well.
“It was a privilege to be representing our Organic business at BioFach 2024. We had a lot of positive interest from a range of customers in our New Zealand organic grass-fed story and some great discussions on where we can support their businesses, particularly as the UK and EU Fair Trade Agreement agreements come into effect.”
- Jacqui Murfitt, NZMP's Organic Market Development Manager.
Alongside the exhibition halls, there was a wealth of learning and networking opportunities in this year’s congress.
Congress included over 170 different sessions with this year’s focus topic being 'Food for the Future: Women and Sustainable Food Systems'. Our NZMP team took advantage of the different educational sessions on offer with the Organic Dairy Farmer Insight Session being the key highlight for the team.
