Differentiate Your Product Claims

New Zealand Organic Dairy - Farming in Harmony with Nature
It starts with this place, because New Zealand is a great place to produce organic dairy. We’ve got the perfect climate, location, and environment for pasture-based organic farming. And we’ve got some of the very best organic farmers too. We farm in harmony with nature without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, GMOs and antibiotics. Striving to protect and enhance our natural environment, biodiversity and soil health.
365 days grass-fed & pasture-raised
Our temperate climate means our organic cows graze outdoors on grass 365 days a year as nature intended and consumers expect. And it’s not just any grass, we believe a diverse range of pasture species including grasses, legumes and herbs helps to support not only the variety and nutritional profile of our cows diets but also the soil health and biodiversity of our farms.
Lower on-farm carbon footprint
Our New Zealand pasture-based farming model enables New Zealand farmers to achieve a lower on-farm carbon footprint compared to more intensive dairy farming models. Farming organically also typically helps to further reduce our on-farm carbon footprint through our lower stocking rates, growing the majority of our feed on farm, and the prohibition of inputs such as synthetic fertilisers.
Prioritising animal wellbeing
Cows are at the heart of every dairy farm and their wellbeing is of paramount importance to us. Fonterra’s independently certified Cared for Cows Standard represents our approach to animal wellbeing. It helps to ensure our cows are valued and treated with respect throughout their lives, and that they are healthy, productive, and well cared for.
Our farmers are passionate about the principles of organic farming and understand that a lightness of touch is essential to preserving our natural environment for future generations.
